In my UU congregation, I am maybe one of less than 20 penross of color. So if one misses a service we all kind of know. At times, besides the minister, who is of Asian Indian descent, we would be the only people of color there. Though at times comments by well meaning, kind hearted Anglo UUs can be like a death of a thousand paper cuts. But I stay, I love being a UU even at the times where it can be lonesome but I also state my claim of being a member of this faith and uphold my covenant with my congregation. I have changed, they have changed me and I think I have changed them too. And I have learned to love them and I'm sure they love me too. Its those paper cuts though, not a lot now that can still hurt.
